FILE 0083 — THE ITEMS — RISO INK CANISTER

MATERIAL

RISO is adopting vegetable-based ink which is made from rice bran oil. It is a unique printing method created in 1954, and nowadays it is mostly used by designers and artists.

USES

Print is all around us - everything is branded, printed on. Riso is an environmentally friendly option that is not used commercially for monetary and practical reasons, but while it will almost certainly be changed or obsolete in 100 years time, I am curious to see how these more tactile and “imperfect” methods of print will still be in use in the future.
